Don’t Use Third-party for Fast Justice from Integrated Banking Ombudsman, Says RBI

Taking cognizance of misinformation being spread through social media, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has warned about using third parties for early redress of consumer grievances under the RBI’s integrated ombudsman scheme (RBI-IOS). In a release, the central bank says, “It is processed that RBI doesn’t have any such arrangement with any entity for the redress of grievances against the regulated entities (REs). RBI  has ordered down a cost-free grievance redress mechanism below RB-IOS under doesn’t involve payment of fees or charges in any form or manner.”

According to RBI, it has come across instances of misinformation being spread through certain sections of social media about the RB-IOS. These messages are conveying to the general public that they must lodge their complaints against entities regulated by rbi through third parties for a charge or fee or otherwise for early redress of grievances. “Customers having grievances against REs for deficiency in services, that isn’t redressed satisfactorily or promptly by the REs criticism directly lodge their grievance on the complaint management system (CMS) .

RBI says, for any query on the integrated ombudsman scheme, or information about the complaints, the consumer can reach its contact center on a toll-free number 14448 (currently available from 9:30 am to 5:15 pm on working days) in Hindi, English, and nine regional languages, including Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Odia, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.
